Connecticut police have filed attempted murder and other charges against a man accused of kidnapping his ex-wife and holding her hostage for hours in the South Windsor home they used to share.

South Windsor police say the charges against Richard Shenkman include two counts of attempted murder, kidnapping, arson, unlawful restraint and violating a protective order.

Shenkman was to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon in his room at Hartford Hospital where he was in stable condition.
