HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ A federal judge in Connecticut has sentenced a former Danbury man to a year and a day in prison for possessing counterfeit cash.
Forty-one-year-old Epaminondas Soares was sentenced Wednesday.
Prosecutors say Soares and another man were found with more than $35,000 in counterfeit $100 bills during a traffic stop in North Carolina last year.
Prosecutors say the two men admitted passing nearly $9,000 in bogus cash at several Hartford area stores.
