TUESDAYS WITH RANDY, VOL 3.
|
An interesting day at the Burton Family Football Complex. The head coach told the assembled members of the Fourth Estate that starting quarterback Cody Endres and Lindsey Witten were suffering from "intestinal issues" and would not be at practice this afternoon.
Then, a writer told the HFC (head football coach) that Endres hinted in the post game interview that he wasn't "prepared" to play against North Carolina. Needless to say, the Head Coach was NOT real pleased to hear that and said he would be talking to Endres.
Eventually, after some of the assembled media has gone on their ways, Edsall and Endres showed up in the cafateria where the player interviews (and lunch) takes place. Endres, sweating profusely from his illness said s this " Coach Edsall had said that someone said I was not prepared to go into the game. I don't remember saying anything to this effect at all. The only thing I did say was that it was just tough since I didn't have reps with Moe (Petrus) during the week. So, I felt completely prepared last week and I am going to feel completely prepared this week" Ok, some misinterpretation somewhere.
Michael Box, true freshman, took the snaps with the first team at practice with walk on Johnny McEntee working with the twos. Edsall had the heat cranking at the Shenkman Center to replicate what the Huskies could face Saturday afternoon in Waco (weather.com is predicting 81 degrees).
The coach is also working another wideout into the mix, educated guess says either Gerrard Shepard or freshman Mike Lang.
Scott Lutrus was expected to be back at practice wearing protection for his shoulder stinger but his status is still in doubt for Saturday.
A programming note- Thursday, Randy will be on with me on the Coaches Show from 6:10 to 6:30 and then we will have players Lindsey Witten and Dan Ryan from 6:35 until 7.
And also on the way cool, Des Conner and Chip Malafronte are talking about doing chats on each others blogs. That will be highly entertaining.
