Dinner of Champions

Ok, vacation has been over for a month with the start of Football. But last night, the 2008-09 Huskies assembled together one last time with 700 friends and fans to celebrate the 6th National Championship in the programs history. Complete with new shiny rings. A few observations....Renee got sick of losing fast in Minnesota and appreciates even more what UConn Basketball is all about. Off to Lithuania soon to play this winter. And she thought Storrs was cold.......

Tahirah is getting her master's at Wake Forest. She wanted some input on some naration of the CPTV Documentary on the 08-09 season. She wants to get better, just like hoops. She's got a future in the biz. And Cassie is still on campus in her 5th year of her Art Major. That's normal for that program in Storrs....

Ok, the current kids...Kaili has lost more weight and Geno expects her to be more consistant. Lorin Dixon has worked her butt off since the Final Four. And with Kalana Greene, the two have worked on their perimeter shooting. Lorin especially as she's out to challenge for the point guard spot. I think the "Light" may have gone on for her. We'l see...

Tiffany Hayes hit the weights too and looks long, lean and ready to attack. Her partner in crime C. Doty is just about to be cleared to go back to the grind. Tina and Maya look rested and ready to go to camp (USA B-Ball) before practice begins in Storrs in what, 3 weeks ?? And I met Maria Moseley last nice. Nice young lady.

And then there is our friend Doris Burke of ESPN. So eloquent as Emcee last night. It was great to catch up with her for a few minutes.She, along with Geno put the night in perspective....In a nutshell, that's it..Kara & I are ready to get another season started November 5th...But right now, I'm enjoying the routine of Football Season keeping busy getting ready for another week/another pregame show Saturday.
