RHODY- THE FOLLOW UP
|
Sunday- Two injury repots from Randy Edsall in the Sunday Teleconference. Kijuan Dabney reinjured his shoulder during pre game warmups and is thru for the season. He will undergo surgery soon. It's too bad because he worked hard to get back from his pre season shoulder injury and really played well against North Carolina in the abscence of Scott Lutrus.
Meme Wylie will be out 4-6 weeks with a forearm fracture, apparantly suffered in the first quarter. Wylie has been invaluable on special teams and his abscence will be felt.
Zach Frazier and Lutrus are still on the injured list headed into the bye week. Frazier told me in the locker room after the Rhody win that he will be ready for Pittsburgh. I am guessing Lutrus will as well, you have to think Scott has been like a caged lion these last three weeks.
The game balls for Rhode Island went to Cody Endrus (offense), Robert McClain (defense) and Trevardo Williams (special teams).Yes. the Huskies had too many fumbles but other than that, you'd really have to nit-pick to find much wrong with their performance. Endress threw well, Michael Smith had a career day, the defense was terrific except for one big play .
Bye week doesnt mean a week of rest, the Huskies will practice Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday and probably have Friday and Saturday off before beginning preperations for the conference opener with Pittsburgh on October 10th. We'll learn the starting time for that game tomorrow afternoon.
If you can make it to the end of Sunday Night Football on NBC Connecticut (formerly Ch 30), I will be on with Kevin Nathan with our Husky Insider segment.
Enjoy the night and if you are a Yankees fan, I KNOW you will!
