Driver Hit as She Exits Her Vehicle in Cromwell



State police say a driver was killed Monday afternoon when she got out of her disabled vehicle near Exit 19  on Route 9  northbound in Cromwell and was hit by a box truck.  

Police are still investigating. 

State police say her vehicle was in the breakdown lane,  but it was not immediately clear if she stepped into the travel lane, or if the truck veered into the breakdown lane. 

Traffic northbound on Route 9  in Cromwell was affected for about two and a half hours, as police conducted their investigation.  

Neither the name of the pedestrian nor that of the truck driver has been released.
