U of Hartford Provost to Lead Mount Holyoke

     SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (AP) _ A new president has been chosen for Mount Holyoke College.
     Trustees of the school, which says it is world's oldest women's college, named University of Hartford Provost Lynn Pasquerella to succeed outgoing president Joanne Creighton.
     Pasquerella was the unanimous choice of a 16-member search committee. She will be introduced on Monday at a ceremony at Mount Holyoke, but will not officially assume the presidency until July 1, 2010.
     A Connecticut native, Pasquerella graduated from Mount Holyoke in South Hadley, Mass., in 1980 and earned her Ph.D. in philosophy at Brown University. She spent more than 20 years at the University of Rhode Island as a professor and later dean of the graduate school.
     She became provost and chief academic officer at Hartford in 2008.
