Dem Chairman Files FEC Complaint Against McMahon Campaign
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ The chairwoman of the Connecticut Democrats has filed a federal elections complaint against Republican Linda McMahon, claiming the former executive of the World Wrestling Entertainment received corporate help for her U.S. Senate race.
Nancy DiNardo claims WWE's recent decision to remove several videos on the Internet site YouTube was done to help McMahon's campaign.
DiNardo says WWE removed videos of wrestlers engaging in a simulated rape and appearing in other offensive scenes, while leaving up thousands of less explicit ones.
WWE says the videos were removed because they were copyrighted material.
DiNardo says removal of the videos amounted to a prohibited in-kind corporate contribution to the McMahon campaign.
McMahon's spokesman Ed Patru says that's a baseless accusation and the campaign has complied with all federal election rules.
