Comptroller's Deficit Estimate Would Block Sale Tax Reduction
|
A new look at the state's finances shows a projected deficit of $624 million dollars. This new estimate from the State Comptroller's office is $235.5 million higher than the projection from the Governor's Budget Office.
State Comptroller Nancy Wyman says total revenue for the year is down more than $407 million dollars. That's more than the latest estimate from the Governor's office -- and Wyman says it's large enough to stop the sales tax reduction planned for January from taking effect.
