Judge Combines Perez Cases
|
A Hartford Superior Court judge has granted a request by prosecutors to combine the two sets of corruption charges against Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez.
Perez has pleaded not guilty to charges that he tried to extort $250,000 from a real estate developer and accepted a bribe from a city contractor who did renovation work on his home.
Jury selection in the combined trial is scheduled to begin during the first week of April in 2010.
Perez was arrested in January on the bribery charges and in September on the extortion-related charges. He insists he did nothing wrong.
