Swine Flu Death Toll in State Now Put at Nine



The State Department of Public Health's weekly posting of confirmed cases of flu reports nine deaths associated with the H1N1 virus in Connecticut in this fall's second wave of the illness.  There were ten deaths in last spring's outbreak.

With four deaths reported, Hartford County leads the state in swine flu mortality.  One death has been reported in each of these counties" Fairfield, Litchfield, Middlesex, New London and Windham.  No deaths have been reported in New Haven and Tolland Counties. 

The Department of Public Health says 970 cases have been confirmed in the state,  in residents ranging in age from infants to age 88.
