Aetna Announces Layoffs
|
Aetna today says it is reducing its workforce by 625 employees, which amounts to about 1.75 percent of the company's workforce. The company says a similar number of reductions is expected before the first quarter of next year.
One hundred and sixty of the layoffs will come in Connecticut. Aetna has 35,500 employees.
It blames the economic downtown and its effect on customers. Chairman and CEO Ronald Williams says the company is preparing for the impact that health care reform and changes in regulations may have on Aetna's business.
