Police Conduct 8-Hour Search for Driver after Accident
NORTH STONINGTON, Conn. (AP) _ Connecticut state police say an eight-hour search for a driver who went missing after a car crash ended when authorities found a woman hiding in her North Stonington home.
Police say a car went off Route 201 in North Stonington and hit a wooden post and a guardrail Tuesday. A state trooper who came across the accident couldn't find the driver. State police and local officials used search dogs and thermal imaging cameras, called area hospitals and canvassed the neighborhood before finding 25-year-old Whitney Karpinski in her home.
Police haven't said whether Karpinski faces any charges. Karpinski could not be reached Thursday. Her phone number isn't listed.
