No Streak, No Record Talk...

Monday AM: Following the 60th consecutive win for the UConn Women, Coach Geno Auriemma reconized Tina Charles for her 2,000th career point Saturday. The 6th player in the program's history to join this exclusive club. But after that, the talk wasn't about streaks or those moving up in the record books. It's about the ultimate goal and getting better every day.

And you'd be hard pressed to find a better offensive effort that was in the flow for the first 20 minutes than we saw at "The Pete" Saturday. 57 points where the "Big Three" just went off on a Pittsburgh team that is reeling and headed for a certain amount of embarassment for being a host site that won't be playing there in March. Tina, Maya & Kalana were all sharp and agressive from the start. And add that Greene is making shots from the perimeter means challenging, head fakes and off to attack the basket. It's a dangerous combination. And a good game from Tiffany Hayes too. In a bit of a struggle from outside the arc, she's getting to the glass too, creating contact and getting to the line.

So now, it's West Virginia at the XL Center Tuesday and perhaps the Coach of the Year in Mike Carey. So suggested the Mountaineers might surprise a few this season. But did anyone think they'd be a school rercord 20-2 start ?? Sarah Miles and Liz Rapella lead a vastly improved team. They gave Notre Dame a big time duel at the Joyce Center a week ago before Lindsay Schraeder took over late. Are the Mountaineers ready to challenge the Huskies ?? That is the question that those have scratched their heads at all season so far.....

Pregame at 6:30 and Husky talk afterwards. And don't forget Joe & Wayne Tonight from Freeedom Hall for the last time against Louisville at 6:30. And it wouldn't shock me if a former UConn Punter from Louisville shows up to say hi.
