Norwich Woman Pleads Guilty in Toddler Death

NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) - A Norwich woman has pleaded guilty and agreed to serve up to three years in prison for her role in the death of her 2-year-old son, who died in 2007 from head injuries consistent with being shaken.
Thirty-two-year-old Melody Murphy appeared in New London Superior Court on Wednesday and pleaded to risk of injury to a minor, which carries up to 10 years in prison. Sentencing is set for March 31.
Murphy's boyfriend, 41-year-old Allan Delusso, was sentenced to seven years in prison in November after pleading guilty to negligent homicide in the boy's death.
Murphy's son, Nathan, died Nov. 6, 2007. Police say Delusso violently shook the baby on Oct. 27 and the couple failed to bring the child to a hospital until the next day.
