State May Coordinate Staggered Work Releases Wednesday
|
Around Connecticut, individuals, families, businesses and communities are battening down for today's predicted winter weather.
Governor Jodi Rell says she's e-mailed the Hartford area's largest employers about arranging a staggered release schedule if they decide to dismiss their employees early on Wednesday.
The governor says the area's largest employers have tens of thousands of employees, and the state has another 53-thousand in Hartford County, and if the weather prompts early closings, it will be "gridlock" on snowy roads if they all leave at the same time.
She says her office e-mailed Aetna, Bank of America, Cigna, ING, Lincoln Financial Group, Phoenix, The Hartford, UTC and others, to arrange a 9 a.m. conference call.
Rell says if the weather develops as forecast, and things get worse during the day, they'll arrange to coordinate departure times to ease traffic congestion.
