Policeman Shoots Driver Accelerating Toward Him After Pursuit
EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Connecticut state police are investigating the shooting of a man by local police after a car chase from Hartford to East Hartford.
State police, who were not involved in the incident, say Hartford officers tried to stop the unidentified man around 2 a.m. Wednesday. He sped away and into East Hartford, where town officers joined Hartford police in the pursuit.
State police say officers opened fire when the man's vehicle turned toward them and accelerated. State police did not specify which department's officers fired their weapons, saying it is part of the investigation.
The man was being treated Wednesday at Hartford Hospital for injuries described as not life-threatening.
